Built in the 1930’s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, Barnwell State Park is best known for its great fishing, swimming, birding and trails. But the biggest secret is its decorator lodging at affordable rates. A Tackle Loaner Program and boat rentals are available. Rates from $99 to $139 for one-and two-bedroom, one bath cabins with equipped kitchens.

Save On Lodging

Wisteria Cottage Bed and Breakfast is a rustic two-bedroom, one bath 1940’s Bed and Breakfast cottage on a picturesque 25-acre farm. Wander the native and heirloom plants and herbs at Lill’s Herb Garden. Room rates start at $50 per night. Call for reservations.

Things To Do In Thoroughbred Country

Free and low-cost activities

Bring a jug and refresh at God’s Acre Healing Springs. Indigenous people believed in the springs’ natural healing powers and brought wounded Revolutionary War soldiers here. The acre of land surrounding the springs was legally deeded to God by its owner in 1944. The nearby Mennonite Church welcomes all to enjoy a Sunday morning or evening service.

Stop in front of the Barnwell County Courthouse and see the unique vertical sundial that was given to the town by a former state senator. Legend has it that this is the only vertical sundial in the U.S. Although it was erected two years prior to standard time, it keeps within two minutes of that. A fun challenge: it’s harder than you think to try and tell the time.

Stop and smell the Lavender at King George Lavender Farm and Mercantile, open seasonally for U-pick lavender, oil distillation demonstrations, events and weddings. Inside the Mercantile is a warm, welcoming atmosphere filled with lavender products, olive oils and home decor.

Find exquisite local art and craftsmanship at Little Red Barn Pottery and Art Gallery, owned by Master Potter Liz Ringus, who showcases works of 35 South Carolina artists and artisans. Explore Ringus’ traditional South Carolina face jugs and Paw Print Pottery. Also find local honey, jams, antiques and gorgeous hand-stitched quilts made by area Mennonite women.

Where To Eat in Thoroughbred Country

Miller’s Bread Basket is a family run Mennonite restaurant serving daily meats and vegetables, such as meat loaf and fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, fresh homemade breads, pies and more.

Country Cupboard is an authentic Pennsylvania style deli, with bulk foods, a bakery and health food store. Meat and cheeses are from Ohio’s Amish Country, and a selection of take-home meals are deliciously prepared. Deli opens for lunch.

Peruse gifts and hand-made items and have a quick lunch of sandwiches, hot dogs, seasonal soups and soft serve ice cream at Healing Springs Country Store.

No trip to South Carolina is complete without barbecue! Have a taste-test at several, including Bobby’s Bar-B-Q Buffet, which also serves fried chicken and other favorites.

Duke’s is a local chain with a faithful following in multiple locations. Their all-you-can-eat barbecue buffet restaurants can be found at the following locations: Bamberg; Blackville and Aiken. Both offer traditional Southern vegetables and desserts.

Enjoy Lake View Cemetery—Cleveland’s Outdoor Museum

Lake View Cemetery has been compared to an outdoor museum, and for good reason. The elaborate grave markers, monuments, and chapels located on the grounds provide some of the most stunning funerary architecture in Ohio.

Highlights of the cemetery include the impressive James A. Garfield Memorial, which is the final resting place of the twentieth president of the United States; Wade Memorial Chapel, whose interior was designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany of New York; and the eerie Haserot angel, which looks as though it has black tears streaming down its face.

Catch the Buzz on Buzzard Day

As proof that Clevelanders will celebrate anything, I give you Buzzard Day in Hinckley. The day starts with a scrumptious all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, followed by a different kind of arts and craft show filled with the interesting and unusual.

After browsing, head out on the city streets for some good old- fashioned games. A guest buzzard makes a special appearance at the park during the spotting event.

Experience Wizbang! A Circus Like No Other

Locals Danielle and Jason Tilk have taken their oddball sense of humor, placed it on steroids, and created a memorable, one-of-a-kind, knee-slapping fun circus like no other.

Dubbed the Wizbang!, the circus, which started out performing for small audiences, has now grown to include bigger theaters.

Wizbang! is a pop-up theater that entertains guests with outrageous antics, circus acts, dance, music, cabaret, and nonstop fun.

The one thing to expect during a Wizbang! show is the unexpected. From one act to the next, you never know what will happen, but you know you’ll have fun finding out.

Meet Fuzzy, Giant Monsters at the Cleveland Kurentovanje

Kurentovanje (koo-rahn-toh-VAHN-yay), a Slovenian-style Mardi Gras, is held each winter in the Slovenian neighborhood. During the one-day festival, the streets fill with vendors, activities, food, and music.

The highlight of the festival is the parade, which features the release of Kurent, a seven-foot-tall abominable snowman–looking creature wearing bells, feathers, and streamers, whose job it is to chase away winter and usher in spring.

Seriously, does life get any better than attending a festival that celebrates a Yeti adjunct creature? I think not!

Prepare to Get Messy with the Polish Boy

What’s a Polish Boy? Well, it’s unlike anything else—a marriage of kielbasa, French fries, coleslaw, and Barbeque sauce.

This messy creation is available around town, and a few joints even offer their own unique rendition of the Polish Boy.

Head over to Hot Sauce Williams to try their verison topped with their special sauce. Best known for their appearance on Man v. Food in which the Polish Girl (like the Polish Boy but add a helping of pulled pork on top) was featured.

Of course, there are many other locations throughout the area that serve out their own version of the Polish Boy. Tip–Be sure to grab lots of napkins, it’s going to get messy.

Cheer On Your Favorite Caterpillar at the Woollybear Festival

In the science world, the woollybear is a fuzzy little caterpillar. In the Vermilion, Ohio, world, it’s a reason to throw a really big festival.

The Woollybear Festival, which happens every fall, is one of the largest one-day festivals in the entire state.

The huge parade is the star, well besides the Woollybear, of course, of this festival and lasts almost two hours and includes pets, marching bands, radio and TV personalities, vintage cars, floats, a royal court, and so much more.

Unique to this festival is the opportunity to cheer on your favorite woollybear in the Woollybear 500 Race.

Delve into the World of Rock and Roll

Immerse yourself in the world of rock and roll in the nationally renowned Rock and Roll Hall fo Fame museum full of memorabilia that preserves the history of “rock and roll,” a term popularized by Cleveland DJ Alan Freed in 1951.

Stroll through exhibits packed with instruments played by the artists, lyrics hand-scribbled on everything from napkins to notebooks, gold records, and stage outfits.

Step Inside The World’s Largest Geode

Rock hounds and gem collectors will be astounded to discover that the world’s largest geode can be found a short drive and ferry trip away from Cleveland.

Located on South Bass Island, Crystal Cave lies beneath the surface of Heineman’s Winery, Ohio’s oldest family-owned and -operated winery.

Tour guides lead visitors on an adventure forty feet below the surface to share how the cave was discovered when digging a well and how that discovery saved the winery during Prohibition.

How to View the Stars Tonight

Located on the campus of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Shafran Planetarium and Mueller Observatory take stargazing to a whole new level.

The state-of-the-art planetarium introduces guests to the wonders of the night sky around us and takes visitors on a virtual journey beyond our own small universe.

As a bonus, during the evening hours, guests can use the building’s roof to help find the North Star.

Soar Through Women’s Aviation History

Tucked away inside the terminal of Burke Lakefront Airport is a little-known museum that honors women who have soared to new heights in the realm of aeronautics.

The International Women’s Air & Space Museum sheds light on the important role women have played in the history of aviation—some of it out of this world!—from the accomplishments of such well-known women as Amelia Earhart and Sally Ride to the lesser-known endeavors of women who hail from Northeast Ohio.

It won’t take long to go through the exhibits that share memorabilia and artifacts, but the inspiration you’ll find will stick with you for a lifetime.

We try to take a break every couple of hours during long road trips and we are always looking for odd roadside attractions.

I found these roadside attractions along I-80 that make a great place to stop and stretch your legs for a few minutes. Don’t miss these roadside attractions along I-80.

I’m sharing some of the best stops from New York to San Francisco.

Roadside Attractions I-80 Pennsylvania

The Boulder Field, Lake Harmony, PA

Get out and stretch at this boulder field in Pennsylvania.

There are different sized and shaped rocks, some up to 26-feet long in a field that was created by glacial action.

This is a great spot to get out of the car for a bit. Be sure to wear good shoes.

T-Rex and Bigfoot, DuBois, PA

I found Bigfoot in Pennsylvania!!!! Now I can say I spotted Bigfoot. You can find him at DooLittles Station. In addition to Bigfoot, you’ll find his friend, T-Rex. Be sure to grab lunch or a treat while you’re there.

Sharon, Pennsylvania: Daffin’s Chocolate Kingdom

Chocolate lovers are going to love this stop. A 400-pound turtle, frog, deer and other woodland creatures. So very sweet.

Warren, OH: David Grohl Alley, World’s Largest Drumsticks

This is the PERFECT stop for music fans. An entire alley of art dedicated to David Grohl plus you’ll be able to see the World’s Largest Drumsticks.

Stop for a tasty treat at this ice cream cone shaped building. How fun!

Walcott, IA World’s Largest Truck Stop

This is a great stop to note on your road trip guide.

Plus, you can grab a bite to eat, fill up the car with gas and stretch your legs.

Located at 755 W. Iowa 80 Rd.I-80, Exit 284 Walcott, IA.

If you have some extra time, head over to Winterset, IA and visit the Bridges of Madison County. It’s about 20 minutes south of I-80 and worth the stop if there’s time. A fun stop to see the covered bridges.

Might want to be careful taking the scenic route off I-80. Yikes.

Riverside, IA Future Birthplace of James T. Kirk

Just in case you need a refresher of the awesomeness that is Captain Kirk…I guess instead of a road trip planner, Captain Kirk would have used a space trip planner 😉

NOTE: Riverside, IA is about 25 minutes south of I-80, but for Trekkie fans it’s worth the detour!

Proof that there is a museum for everything. This one is all about marbles. If you’ve lost yours by this point on the road trip with the family this might be a good place to look for them.

Potter, Nebraska: 24-Hour Duckpin Bowling

Need a stop in the middle of the night. This is just the spot to try your hand at duckpin bowling.

Buford, Wyoming: Smallest Town In America

This used to be the smallest town in America with a population of 1, but that resident left over a decade ago and it’s now considered a ghost town.

Cheyenne, Wyoming: Giant Coffee Pot

Be sure to check out this coffee pot water tower when you stop for gas at Sapp Brothers fuel.

Pine Bluffs, Wyoming: Tee Pee House 

This home is shaped like a giant teepee with smaller teepee surrounding it. Definitely a unique home.

Shores & Islands Ohio Highlights

Volstead Bar

This speakeasy is probably one of my favorite places to go for a great cocktail and to relax. Only noted by its green door and the red and green light bar in the window (red means no seats are available) it is an easy place to miss, but once you find it you will quickly fall in love and want to stay.

Cedar Point

Home to the tallest, fastest and most exhilarating coasters in the world. If you need an adrenaline rush this is the place to go.

I’m not a fan of coasters, but my friends that are absolutely LOVE going to Cedar Point numerous times throughout the summer.

Five Water Parks

The Sandusky area is home to five water parks and also takes the honor of having the largest indoor water park in the Midwest.

Head over to Kalahari Resorts to experience the largest water park and so much more. It’s definitely a resort worth visiting.

There are three indoor water parks at Great Wolf Lodge, Castaway Bay and Kalahari and two outdoor water parks at Cedar Point Shores and Monsoon Lagoon.

Lake Erie Islands

There are three islands off the shores of Sandusky. 

All of them offer something a little different, but they are all worth a visit. Put-In-Bay (South Bass Island) is probably the most popular destination and has plenty to offer singles, couples & families.

Kelleys Island offers lots of green space, but fewer resources than South Bass Island, but is lovely to visit.

Middle Bass Island is home to a state park and glacier grooves which are absolutely worth a visit.

The Goodtime I provides beautiful sunset cruises with views of Cedar Point and the Lake Erie shore.

A 2 hour cruise includes live entertainment as well as happy hour drinks and pizza available for purchase.

This is a great way to close out your adventure filled day in Sandusky.

Hike Sheldon’s Marsh

Located off of US-6 this nature area is a hidden gem in the region. Home to a variety of birds, butterflies and wildlife you’ll want to bring your camera for your hike.

If you can find a nature guide to go with you the experience will be that much richer as they are able to spot and identify so many animals and birds along the path.

The hike is an easy 1/2 mile, one way, on a paved path. When you get towards the end of the path take the trail to the left to go out to the Lake Erie shore.

Explore Historic Downtown Sanduskuy

Explore Washington Park, downtown architecture, Schade-Mylandar Plaza, Facer Park, and the Lake Erie waterfront.

Be sure to find the garden clock and note the date. Every day an employee changes the date. It is a great place to document your visit to Shores & Islands.

Go Birding

Did you know Sandusky is the Warbler Capital of the World? From Magee Marsh to Old Woman Creek, you’ll discover so many reasons to spend another day in Shores & Islands Ohio, one of the nation’s best areas for birding.

Each year, the Biggest Week in American Birding happens in the Sandusky area. Make sure to mark your calendar for next May when you can join birders from around the world to explore American Birding.

Bike Sandusky

Located near Louisville and only an hour from Cincinnati, Oldham makes an easy day trip or weekend getaway. 

Here you’ll discover lovely farms, shopping, a castle and my favorite thing, BOURBON! 

Unique Places to Stay

I know some our opposed to staying in a B&B and that’s fine. If you love them Oldham has a wonderful selection, but if you prefer something a bit more private be sure to book a vacation home.

There are B&B’s on working horse farms and vacation homes along the Ohio River. I’m considering these two B&B’s for my next getaway. 

One option is the Pillow and Paddock B&B.  It has been voted a “Google Favorite Place” many times over its life and is located just minutes from historic downtown La Grange which offers the perfect opportunity for train watching, unique boutique shopping, and trackside restaurants with outdoor seating.

Another, the Bluegrass Country Estate Bed and Breakfast has been voted “Best Bed and Breakfast in Kentucky for Amenities” for several years. This one definitely speaks to my need to indulge in some luxury. It comes with a pool, theater room, popcorn machine, and a hot tub to soak while stargazing.

For those that are traveling through with their horses, there is even a stall available for them at Bluegrass Country Estate to get out of the horse trailer and stretch in their own stall.

Yew Dell Botanical Gardens & Castle!

The former home, garden, and nursery of the late Theodore Klein is today known as Yew Dell Botanical Gardens. It is home to the largest collection of hellebores and hostas in Kentucky. 

For my non-gardening friends, hellebores (yes, I had to look it up because I didn’t know either) is commonly called Lenten rose, and are early-blooming flowers that bloom from February to May. Now that I know I kind of want to plant some, but that’s a story for another time. 

I find botanical gardens interesting to walk around because I’m amazed at the skills people have to get things to grow. It’s nice seeing all the varieties of plants and flowers and I may dream a little about someday having a gorgeous garden. In reality that will never happen because dang they are a lot of work, but botanical gardens inspire the wannabe green thumb in me.,

The real show stopper of the botanical gardens though is the castle. Yes, a castle in Kentucky! It was originally the pool house and it’s the only small-scale castle in the state.

In addition to the gorgeous gardens and the one of a kind castle, you’ll find a mile hiking trail that takes you past ponds and wildlife. A fun place to get out and stretch and enjoy nature without being far from civilization.

Farms, Bourbon and Beer in Oldham

As the Farm Tour Capital of Kentucky, Oldham offers some 15 different farm tours between May and October. Love on the animals, smell the flowers, and taste organic veggies.

Harvest Moon Farm and Dairy

This is a perfect look at a working dairy farm demonstrating the farm-to-store process of making artisan cheese.

Tours offer hands-on experiences, from making ice cream or cornmeal to milking and feeding the animals.

Beyond the hands-on, you’ll see how crops are grown, harvested, and stored.

Don’t miss taking a ride on the tractor-pulled wagon! 

Windy Meadows Horse Farm

This farm showcases all breeds of horses and shares about the Kentucky horse industry.

Additionally, Hallmark movie buffs will be interested in learning that Windy Meadows Horse Farm was featured in some recent movies including, “The Ultimate Legacy” series, “J. L. Family Ranch” and the latest, “Orphan Horse” with Jon Voigt. 

Woodland Farm

Pivot away from horses and learn about Bison on this Kentucky farm. They are also known for their sustainable growing practices and heritage foods. 

The 150-year-old farm provides many area restaurants with farm-to-table goodness. No pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides are used on the farm. It’s hard work, but the pay off is an incredible and delicious harvest. 

However, it’s not all work, work, work at the farm. There is also time for fun. Visitors can enjoy the largest and most gigantic collection of pink snails, green rabbits, and purple elephants in Kentucky. It’s outdoor art at its quirkiest and finest. I love a good roadside attraction and this completely fits the bill.

3rd Turn Brewing Oldham Gardens

This is Kentucky’s only Craft Brewery, Greenhouse Beer Garden, and Meadery tour. Wow, that’s a lot to unpack, but here you’ll get beer straight from the source. 

Choose from 32 different beers on tap at the beer garden with a mix of local and regional options.

Plus, they also offer up bourbon and fruit slushes. 

The gardens are also home the longest communal table in Kentucky at 80-feet-long! I’m loving all the unique discoveries in Oldham County. 

Kentucky Artisan Distillery

This is the first distillery in Oldham County since Prohibition.

This ice cream factory-turned-distillery began as a contract bottler and distiller for different customers.

Today, they are the only completely farm-to-bottle distillery in Kentucky and focus on three distinct brands on their tours. 

Honestly, if they still made ice cream and added bourbon to it I think they could be onto something big. 🙂 

Hermitage Farm

A historic farm that is most famous for raising the 1953 winner of the Kentucky Derby, Dark Star. Beyond a farm tour, it also offers the most unique collection of horse carriages in the world. 

Freight Trains Through Downtown – OnlyInOldhamKY 

Train tracks run right down the center of Main Street in downtown La Grange and freight trains still ride those rails.

This is a cool experience for train lovers as its the only town in the world with a freight train running ON its Main Street.

The trains slow way down as they rumble through downtown giving shoppers and diners and up-close look as it travels down the street.

Interestingly enough the train rails are embedded in the pavement so the trains share the street with cars and pedestrians. THAT would be something to see in your rearview mirror!

Train aficionados will want to make their way to the train observation tower for the best view.

Fun On The Islands – Ferry Services

First you’ll need to plan transportation to the islands. There are two ferry choices and which one you pick will really depend on where you want to go and if you’d like to take your car or not.

I recommend not taking a car as golf carts really are the transportation of choice once you’re on island. 

Millers Ferry

If you want to take a car to the island or you’d like a shorter ferry ride Millers Ferry is the way to go. Millers Ferry departs from Catawba Island and takes 18 minutes to go over to Put-In-Bay/South Bass Island.

Millers Ferry also transport passengers to Middle Island  which is a 40 minute cruise. This island is known as the “Relaxing Island for Active People.” The Lake Erie Island home of historic Lonz Winery and State Park, kayaking & swimming beach, nature preserves, restaurants, lodging & camping. 

Jet Express

This Jet Express is a passenger only ferry and takes about 40 minutes to go to the islands. It makes stops at Cedar Point, Kelleys Island,  and Put-In-Bay/South Bass Island. It departs from either downtown Sandusky or Port Clinton.

Put-In-Bay/South Bass Island

Put-in-Bay, a Victorian era village that offers family fun, outdoor recreation, and special events. I think one of the best thing about Put-in-Bay is the main means of transportation—-golf carts!!!

The island is home to two world’s biggest attractions that you absolutely do not want to miss. 

Hop in your golf cart and head over to Crystal Cave to stand in the World’s Largest Geode

The World’s Longest Permanent Bar is the 405-ft-10-in-long. counter in the Beer Barrel Saloon. Belly up to that bar and order yourself a cold one. 

Of course, you should also explore the history of the island by visiting Perry Victory and International Peace Memorial operated by the National Park Service.

The memorial was established to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie, during the War of 1812, and to celebrate the long-lasting peace between Britain, Canada and the U.S. There are also really great views from the top.

Middle Bass Island

This island is known as the “Relaxing Island for Active People.” The Lake Erie Island home of historic Lonz Winery and State Park, kayaking & swimming beach, nature preserves, restaurants, lodging & camping.

The largest of the three islands Kelley’s Island is the perfect escape for nature and bird lovers as well as those looking for a quiet getaway. Here you’ll find a  sandy state park beach, a popular winery and brewery, and historic homes.

Safari Wildlife Park

Drive to Port Clinton and drive through the Safari Wildlife Park where you get up close and personal with some adorable animals. 

Plus they have giraffes and since the likelihood of me actually getting to African to see them in their natureal habitat is slim to none, I’m grateful I can see these majestic animals here. 

Marblehead Lighthouse

Don’t skip on visiting Marblehead Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes.

The lighthouse is open during the week for tours. I love how it is built right on the rock. I highly recommend visiting both places.

Merry-Go-Round Museum 

Feast your eyes on intricately carved “painted ponies,” and don’t miss out on the opportunity to watch one of the master carvers bring one of these beautiful pieces of historical art back to life.

Climb aboard the working “fully restored” Allan Herschell Carousel with the band organ playing and enjoy a throwback to childhood. 

Oh, and while you’re there, ask about the paranormal activity rumored to take place within the walls of this former Sandusky post office turned museum!

Schoepfle Gardens

A 77 acres of botanical gardens and natural woodland bordered on one side by the Vermilion River located in Wakeman. There is a 2-mile hiking trail that is worth walking after you are done smelling the flowers. About a 40-minute drive from Sandusky.

Seneca Caverns

While not immediately in the downtown area, Seneca Caverns is just a short 30 minute drive south.

It is one of  largest underground caverns in the area, and considered to be one of America’s most fascinating geological wonders.

An hour guided tour takes you through the “The Earth Crack” and view “Ole Mist’ry River“, the crystal clear flowing stream which is part of the vast ground-water system which underlies the surrounds region.

The cave is always a cool 54 degrees so dress accordingly and where comfortable shoes. Note-there are lots of stairs involved so check in with your knees to see if there up to the task.

Firelands Adventure Tours

If you’d prefer a guided tour experience in the area Firelands Adventure Tours has your back.They offer 6 different tours on a regular basis and two seasons tours. Tours range from wine and beer to the underground railroad and museums. 

Seasons tours include Haunted Sandusky and Holiday Lights. Two great reasons to come back for a visit in the winter.

Book A Stay At Castaway Bay

This waterpark hotel is located right outside of Cedar Points gates.

Six on-site restaruants, an arcade, escape room, black light mini golf, and mini bowling all await when you’re done at the waterpark.

Zuppaman 

Don’t let its location in a strip mall deter you from grabbing lunch. The colorful logo window design grabbed our attention, but its the customer service and fantastic food that has us recommending this place to everyone we know. 

We ordered the Turkey Jive and the Cheesy Pickle with a garlic/black pepper aioli. Yes and yes!!! It’s going to be hard to order something else because those sandwiches were so good. 

Oh, and if you prefer soup and/or salad they have a number of choices available.

Small City Taphouse

Small City Taphouse offers over 40 beers on tap and an asian infused menu.

Great decor, high ceilings, large seating and bar area.

This is a fantastic place to have a drink and dinner while visiting with friends.

OH Taco ?

Located inside the Hotel Kilbourne in downtown Sandusky. OH Taco is an authentic Mexican restaurant and tequila bar with over 75 different tequilas.

You’ll find everything from house-made Guacamole and Tacos to a gigantic Quesadilla and Burrito. OH Taco is also known for having the “best damn margaritas.”

Saucy Brew Works

One of the newest additions to downtown Sandusky, Saucy Brew Works started in Cleveland and expanded to Sandusky.

Here you’ll find 16 fresh beers on tap, along with fine wines and signature cocktails. Food offerings include food their award-winning New Haven-style Apizza.

The Saucy coffeehouse has a full selection of craft coffee offerings including our single-origin house roast, pour overs, and espresso.

Volstead Bar

Chances are you would pass right past this speakeasy without a second glance.

There is no big sign, no big banner announcing its presence, just a green door on a nondescript building.

However, if you look up you will see a small neon bar sign perched on the ledge of a window. When the speakeasy is open the bar sign is lit up.

Be sure to check the set of lights next to the bar sign to see if seats are available inside. Note, seating is very limited. 5 green lights = at least 5 seats, 3 green lights = 3 seats and a red light means don’t enter.

No cell phones, no outside worries, just you, some friends, and a retro cocktail or two.

Seriously, if you go no other place in the region, go here. When I hang up my traveling shoes I’m opening a speakeasy just like this.

The Upper Deck (Put In Bay)

Great views of the water with indoor and outdoor seating.

Near the ferry landing and a great place to people watch.

The lobster bisque is a must order.

The Forge (Put In Bay)

This restaurant is in an old forge building and original building materials and blacksmithing tools are used in the décor.

Old tools on the wall, an anvil in the hostess station and more.

The Forge is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and probably one of the only places on the island to order a delicious crepe.

The Goat Soup & Whiskey (Put In Bay)

The name alone should be enough to bring you here, but it’s the food and drinks that make sure you return.

A fun place to dine when you visit Put In Bay.

Outdoor covered seating is a nice bonus.

The raspberry basil mojito was a hit during my visit and the perch fish tacos are a local and tourist favorite.
