Calling all KISS fans, did you know KISS once rocked in Cadillac, Michigan back in 1975? This fall, we’re turning back the clock and celebrating in true KISS fashion with the KISS 50 Cadillac Reunion happening October 9–12, 2025!

A Small Town Meets a Legendary Band

Picture it: small-town Michigan in the early ‘70s. Autumn weekends mean crisp air, changing leaves, and a packed stadium for Viking football. The community rallies behind its team, which just wrapped up a flawless season. Hopes are sky-high until the following year begins with back-to-back losses. Spirits sink, and coaches Dave Brines and Jim Neff know they need something different to fire up their players.

That’s when Jim Neff, the assistant coach with a passion for rock and roll, turns to music. Not just any music, though something bold enough to shake things up. His pick? A rising band called KISS. Their thunderous sound, explosive energy, and in your face style were unlike anything Cadillac had seen before. And as fate would have it, their name lined up perfectly with an old football saying: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

The effect was immediate. The locker room buzzed with adrenaline, the team roared back with new confidence, and Cadillac unknowingly carved its name into KISS history. What started as a coaching experiment soon turned into a legendary connection between a small Michigan town and one of the world’s biggest rock bands.

When KISS finally rolled into Cadillac in 1975, the town went wild. Fans lined the streets to see the band in full makeup, and the players got a once in a lifetime pep boost when the group joined them on the field. Autographs were signed, photos were snapped, and Cadillac suddenly found itself on the national radar, all thanks to a bold rock band and a small-town team looking for a spark.

Experience the KISS 50 Cadillac Reunion

Now, fifty years later, Cadillac is ready to celebrate that legendary connection. For four days this October, our little town in Northern Michigan will be filled with KISS spirit, music, stories, and plenty of rock and roll nostalgia. In between the events, you can soak in the fall colors, stroll downtown, or explore the lakes and trails that make Cadillac such a perfect autumn getaway.

Mark your calendars, KISS fans, because this is one reunion you won’t want to miss.

This October, we’re bringing that legendary energy back to life! From downtown displays and museum exhibits to live music, tailgates, and even a KISS-themed drone show, the KISS 50 Cadillac Reunion lets fans experience the spirit of 1975 all over again. Whether you’re reliving the memories or discovering Cadillac’s rock history for the first time, every moment of the weekend is packed with music, fun, and nostalgia.

It’s the perfect way to sip, shop, and celebrate a piece of rock history.

I was born and raised in Cadillac and while growing up here there was not much to do. You basically had like three options, go to the movies, bowling, or do an outdoor activity like swimming, hiking, taking out a four wheeler on the trails, fishing, skiing or snowboarding. You get the gist of it and a lot of people couldn’t afford the fancy outdoor toys including my family.

I spent a lot of time outdoors, hanging out with the neighbors and riding my bike. Thinking back on it, I now realize how few activities Cadillac had compared to the places I’ve lived since. It kind of makes me sad.

After a number of years away, I moved back last year and I’m rediscovering my hometown through fresh eyes and finding that there are so many things to do now compared to a decade ago.

Camping

Cadillac offers great places to camp with a tent or camper, there are even cabin rentals on the lake!

Right between the lakes you have Mitchell State Park that offers many sites as well as some cabins. The benefit of staying at this one is you’re right between two lakes and across the street from Carl T. Johnson Hunting & Fishing Center. The center offers hiking trails and numerous events throughout the year. This summer you can take a fly fishing seminar in July. Be sure to check out the other numerous activities available this summer. Another benefit of staying at the state park is the accessibility to nearby restaurants, and most importantly, coffee. Also, downtown Cadillac is just on the other side of Lake Cadillac about 10 minutes drive away.

Another campground to check out on the lake is Hemlock Campground. I haven’t stayed at Hemlock, but I’m definitely curious to try it. It looks perfect for campers that like a bit more privacy.

Outdoor Activities

One thing that hasn’t really changed, but has significantly improved is all the outdoor activities you can find in Cadillac year round. During the summer months you’ll find:

Hiking

Fishing

Boating

ATV Trails

Kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding

Disc golfing

Golfing

The Cadillac Area ATV trails are ready to welcome you with updates way signs, 2 trailhead staging areas, and more than 100 miles of mapped scenic ride miles. Don’t have an ATV? No worries, there are a number of rental facilities to help you out.

For those that love biking, you’ll want to ride the 200+ miles of multi-terrain trails. There are trails for families, fat-tire biking, and road biking.

Our personal favorite outdoor activity is kayaking with camping coming in a close second. When I want to get out on the water I tend to drop our kayaks on the Big Manistee River. Local outfitters can fit you with a kayak, canoe, and even a float tube if that is more your style.

If you’re feeling artistic, head over to Up North Arts, where you can take classes on everything from watercolor painting to ukulele strumming. Last year, my mom and I took a Nature Watercolor Journaling class, and I highly recommend it.

The Wexford Conservation District and Lake City-Missaukee County Conservation District both offer affordable classes on outdoor and gardening topics, and while most are held in the fall, winter, and spring, I encourage you to bookmark them for future visits.

Head Out To The Farm

Growing up, I had cornfields, dairy farms, as well as berry and pumpkin patches. But over the years, things have changed, and now visiting a farm is an experience in itself. Here are a few spots to check out:

When you stop in be sure to get some ice cream.

Backyard Blossoms Greenhouse: I just discovered this one this year through a facebook post. Located in Tustin just a few miles from US 131 this Amish run greenhouse is simply adorable. Flowers, garden plants and indoor plants are all available as well as other gardening needs. It’s worth a visit just for the vibe. 19418 220th Ave, Tustin. They are open seasonally Monday-Saturday from 10a-6p. On your way to the greenhouse do yourself a favor and stop at the Yoder’s of Tustin store. Their bread and bakery items are top notch. Grab a sandwich if you are there around lunch time. You wont be disappointed. Note, Yoder’s is closed on Thursday and Sunday and only takes cash or check.

Fall is absolutely my favorite time of year. It has the best holiday, Halloween I’m looking at you, cool weather, fantastic fall festivals, pumpkins, apples, boots and sweaters. Honestly, best.season.ever., and one of the best places to experience that season is up north in Cadillac, MI.

Here you can experience the splendor and magic of autumn without the crowds because this area of Michigan is still an undiscovered fall gem.

Our Favorite Ways to Experience Fall in Cadillac, MI

Take A Color Driving Tour

Color driving tours are kinda the gold standard when it comes to fall fun and that is no exception in the Cadillac area.

The region has two fall color routes that you don’t want to miss. Each route is a perfect day trip that allows you to explore Cadillac and the greater area to find some of our best hidden gems.

The in-town Cadillac route is an 18-mile loop that takes you around both Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell. Did you know we had two lakes in the heart of downtown Cadillac?

Before you begin your fall color drive grab a cup of coffee at one of the many local coffee shops and then start your tour at Cadillac Commons. Drive along the lakes and part of the Manistee National Forest before arriving in “Cadillac West.” There you can visit Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center and take a jaunt on the Heritage Nature Trail. The route will loop you back into downtown Cadillac in time for lunch and shopping.

The Around Cadillac color tour loops total about 200 miles. There is both an east and west segment that will wind you to scenic overlooks, beautiful hiking trails, fall canopies, farm markets and boutiques.

The western side of the loop will have you stopping at seven overlooks and take you past a few farms and hiking trails while the eastern loop is focused on the agricultural aspects of the region.

Specific details can be found here.

Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins found at local farms and markets

Where To Have Family Fun Down On The Farm

Dick Family Farm in McBain is a centennial dairy farm open on Fridays and Saturdays in October that offers lots of family fun in the fall. Pick out the perfect pumpkin from over 20 varieties, explore the Pure Michigan corn maze, climb the hay bale mountain, play in the corn bin, and pet the animals. Homemade donuts and cider are also available!

Brinks Family Creamery located in McBain is a 4th generation farm, creating premium milk and cheese products directly from the Grade A milk of top quality, registered Holsteins. They also have play areas for kids and animals to pet along with a fully stocked bakery. If that is too far of a trip for you, keep your eyes peeled as they have just opened a frozen yogurt shop in downtown Cadillac, Benny’s Froyo and Mo!

This next stop truly has something for everyone. Maple Leaf Farm and Creamery in Falmouth is an artisan goat milk creamery & farm, take an afternoon to discover their on-site classes and demonstrations, to educational activities and camps, festivals and gift shops, hayrides, wagon rides and more! No shortage of fun on this fully operational farm. This is one of our favorite farms to visit. Throughout the year you’re always welcome to visit the goats, pssss, spring is great for that!

Norman’s Farm in Tustin is a small family owned farm in operation since 1889! You will find a variety of pumpkins, squash, gourds, corn, potatoes, and tomatoes on site. This farm yields not only quality produce and livestock, but also seven generations of agricultural knowledge and ability.

The Hudson Farm in Cadillac features seasonal events and a gift shop cleverly named “Ewe-niquely U”, with plenty of fun activities to explore. Their Fall Festival entertainment includes: feeding & petting farm animals, wagon rides, hay maze, free crafts, pumpkins, hot & cold refreshments and much more!

The mission at 3rd Day Farm in Lake City is clear -“learn, love, & give…REAL food!”. You can visit with the alpacas, baby doll sheep, Lim-flex cattle, chickens, and pigs, tour the greenhouses, or request a fresh salad blend be cut for your dinner.

The Poplar Pines farm in Mesick produces a variety of farm fresh organic duck eggs, chicken eggs, and home baked breads, available on a first come, first serve basis at their seasonal farm stand. Other fall activities on site include a petting zoo, sandbox, playground, and hayrides with cider and donuts!

View from trail at High Rollway on the Manistee River

Hikers on the Hunt for Fall Colors

While Cadillac offers some remarkable driving tours that show off the best color, some prefer to view the scene on foot.

Our favorite hike is at the High Rollway on the Manistee River. Incredible views with an easy walk, pack a picnic and stay awhile. The color views are amazing from here. This article shares more about the high rollaway plus four additional hiking trails to check out!

New Cadillac ORV Wayfinding sign (c)CadillacCVB

ORV Fall Trail Fun

Cadillac and the surrounding region has 120 miles of off-road vehicle trails along 10 ORV trail systems, which makes it a great way to get deep in the woods and see fall colors missed by many.

Cadillac also has new wayfinding signs making your adventure in the woods easier to navigate. There are also a number of outfitters in the area to rent an ORV from so you don’t have to own one to get out on the trails.

We went with Bigfoot Epic Adventures, because of course we did, but the Cadillac CVB has a list of rentals listed so you can find the one that works best for your up north adventure.

Fall river paddle is worth the trip up north! (c)Cadillac CVB

Fall River Floats

Soak up all that the fall season has left to offer by taking to one of the Cadillac Area’s two magnificent rivers. The Big Manistee River, a wide, smooth flowing river with many great places to get out and enjoy picnics, camping, and fishing; or give the Pine River a try, more narrow, swift and a true challenge. Fall color views from the water are second to none! Click here to learn more.

Can’t make a float this fall? No worries, come on up this winter and enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience with a winter rafting trip on the Pine or nearby East Jordan. It’s our favorite winter activity.

Fall Fishing in Northern Michigan

The section of the Big Manistee River below Tippy Dam is designated a National Scenic River. The changing colors of the leaves and wildlife visible along the river banks as autumn moves into early winter make for a beautiful float. In the fall, the Steelhead are feeding heavily for the onset of winter; you will also find Coho Salmon and Brown Trout. Read more about it here.

While you’re in that area be sure to check out the Little Mac Footbridge on the Manistee River Trail near Hodenpyl Dam.

KISS Fans

One of the most unexpected discoveries in Cadillac is the KISS memorial at Cadillac High School. You can read about the why it exists here, but it’s definitely worth a stop for 70s Rock n Roll fans and all those who appreciate some seriously good hard rock music.

Let’s jump in our wayback machine and go to the year 1973. It’s fall, and the weekend entertainment consists of going to a Cadillac Vikings high school football game or going to the movies. Now, you don’t miss a football game because the team is on a winning streak and they end that season with a perfect 9-0 record.

Local fans are excited and looking forward to the next season, but the team immediately loses the first two games. Now, that’s not looking good for the coaches, Dave Brines and Jim Neff, so they came up with a plan.

They were going to play KISS music before practice and before games to energize the players before they headed out on the field and it worked!

But why KISS? Well, assistant coach Jim Neff, a Rock and Roll fan, was put in charge of picking the music and he “chose a new and outrageous band — KISS. They were wild, bold, and loud. Plus, their name invoked an old football credo — Keep It Simple Stupid.”

KISS Cadillac Monument (c)CadillacCVB

Who knew KISS could be so inspiring? The coaches took a chance and it worked. The players began dominating the field and won seven games and a conference co-championship.

It wasn’t long before the band heard about their music inspiring a small town football team to go all the way to the playoffs and they instantly adopted the Vikings as their team.

Now, die hard KISS fans are saying, of course it worked, but back in the 70s you can imagine some of the push back the coaches would have received from the community. However, at the end of the day they couldn’t deny that the music worked.

Jim Neff kept in contact with KISS after the winning streak and was the catalyst behind getting the band to come to town to be part of the homecoming parade and perform at the gym. Everyone got into the KISS spirit and local stores probably sold out of makeup as the entire town showed up with faces painted to match KISS.

After the concert the band left town in 70’s rock star fashion via a helicopter from the football field. Iconic move.

KiSS monument at the Cadillac High School (c)CadillacCVB

The legacy of the band playing in Cadillac has lived on and is a story that continues to be shared by locals and KISS fans alike. Many KISS fans make the pilgrimage to Cadillac to see the KISS monument that stands in front of the football field that started it all.

We are rolling up on the 50th anniversary of this epic event and plans are being put in place to make it a weekend to remember. KISS fans will want to start making plans to visit Cadillac in October 2025. Stay tuned for more information. I’ll share it as it becomes available.

There is no other place in the US where KISS showed up for homecoming and performed a concert for locals. And for that reason a trip to Cadillac is an absolute must for KISS fans.

Thinking of planning a trip to northern Michigan to visit one of the few car-free islands in the U.S.? We have a complete guide of what to do on Mackinac Island in addition to this list of 27 unforgettable things to do on Mackinac Island.

We’re sharing all the best activities on Mackinac Island plus many of them are FREE!

Start packing because there are many things to do on Mackinac Island and you won’t want to put it off another summer!

Although, fair warning, the island is busy during the summer months. If you can visit this unique place in the fall during the week it will be a bit quieter.

Grab a ferry in either St. Ignace (in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula) or in Mackinaw City (in Michigan’s lower peninsula). Both offers multiple ferries a day to and from the island.

You’ll want to plan, at a minimum, an entire day trip to the island, but if it’s possible plan at least a 2-day, 1-night visit. I recently stayed for 3-nights and wanted to stay longer.

The island life is definitely for me 😉

Note: This post has affiliate links.

Did you know that most of the island is part of the Mackinac Island State Park system? I just recently discovered that little fact and was thrilled knowing my visits help support the state parks.

You’ll pass the Somewhere In Time Gazebo, follow the path into the woods to the right.

Continue on and you’ll discover a historic marker with a great overlook of the Straits.

Anne’s Tablet is a tribute to author Constance Fenimore Woolson who spent her childhood summers on the island and became a well-known, early 19th-century author.

Her first published novel, Anne (which is currently FREE on Amazon Kindle), is based on the Island and was published in the late 1800’s.

The entire island is very photogenic.

Wawashkamo Golf Course for a History Lesson

Wawashkamo is an interesting blend of history and today.

It is Michigans oldest, unchanged, private nine-hole golf course. It was founded in 1898 and that way you see it today is mostly how it was over a century ago.

This is also the land of the great 1814 Battle of Mackinac Island. This was once a farmer’s field where American soldiers attempted and failed to drive the British from their hill.

When you tee off at the first hole you are teeing off on historic ground.

FREE to view, a fee to play.

Paddle the Straits

Great Turtle Kayak Tours offers two locations and many tour options for getting out on the water to explore the Straits of Mackinac.

The first option is to take a tour from the mainland before heading to the island. Go the Fort Michilimackinac in Mackinaw City and enjoy a paddle to the Fort and under the mighty Mackinac Bridge. That is definitely a bucket list item.

Once you are on the island join Great Turtle Kayak Tours for a paddle to famous Mackinac Island landmarks. SUP is also available.

TIP: Be sure to check out the crystal clear waters of the Straits!

A visit to Indiana's first and oldest diner, Triple X Family Restuarant, is a must for those that crave a triple x rootbeer and burger!

I may be slightly obsessed with Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives on the Food Network. Well, particularly the first couple seasons when it was still new and the producers found great hole-in-the-wall restaurants around America. Visiting restaurants from the first couple seasons is always a treat. Luckily, on a Indiana Foodways Alliance road trip, I made a stop at the Triple XXX Family Restaurant in West Lafayette, Indiana; a season one episode seven favorite.

The Triple X Family Restaurant started serving Triple XXX root beer at a Thirst Station in West Lafayette back in 1932. During the height of popularity there were around 100 Thirst Stations in the U.S. and Canada. This Triple X Family Restaurant is the last remaining, original Thirst Station left and one of the few places that you can still buy the original, pure cane sugar Triple XXX root beer from 1895.

Thank goodness they are still serving up Triple XXX root beer because it is, hands down, fantastic. I’ve tried a lot of root beers and they are good, but Triple XXX somehow takes it up a notch. Of course, drinking it fresh out of the keg at the restaurant helped, but it was still good from the bottles I brought home.

The restaurant wasn’t added on to the thirst station until 2003, but they kept the vintage feel of an era gone by with decor reminiscent of vintage Route 66. Seating is around a U shaped counter as well as picnic tables outside.

Guy Fieri made an appearance at the Triple X Family Restaurant back in 2007 when he was brand new on the Food Network scene and tried a variety of menu items including the Duane Purvis burger.–“A burger for the more adventurous! A 1/4 lb. of 100% ground sirloin with thick, creamy peanut butter served on a toasted sesame seed bun with melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion. A very special treat!” Apparently, he is quite the character and the staff had a great time filming the episode.

I tried it and really liked it. I know, I know, you are probably wondering how peanut butter on a burger could be good, but you’ll just have to trust me. It’s a little different but no different than peanut sauce for Asian dishes. This is definitely a burger I would order again. Of course, if peanut butter on a burger isn’t your thing the menu has many other options.

As always be sure to save room for dessert because the Triple XXX Family Restaurant makes THE best root beer cake and serves it with ice cream!

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

When I visited Triple XXX Family Restaurant was cash only. I don’t know if that has changed, but go prepared with cash just in case.

The magic of this festival brings to life the experience of Lunar New Year traditions in China and the Chinese zodiac sign to the zoo.

Grand Rapids Lantern Festival

The History of the Lantern Festival

The Lantern Festival originated in China over 2,000 years ago. Traditionally, it marks the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations and symbolizes the coming of spring.

Lanterns, with their intricate designs and vibrant colors, are used to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck. Over time, the tradition has spread globally, and cities around the world now host their own versions of lantern festivals.

Last year John Ball Zoo hosted the Lantern Festival to celebrate Asian culture and it provided the perfect setting for the illuminated Asian lantern displays.

Plus, this is the only place in Michigan you can see these incredible works of art.

Photo Tianyu Arts & Culture, Inc, Facebook

Festival Features

The lantern festival features handcrafted Asian lantern displays that will illuminate the Zoo and tell an intersecting story of wildlife and Asian culture.

The mile long walking path will feature approximately 55 handcrafted Asian lanterns with intricate designs, representing various ocean themes and cultural elements.

From wildlife-inspired lanterns to geometric patterns, each display tells a story and adds to the entertainment of the trail.

New this year are more lighted tunnels and interactive experiences like a jelly fish that bounces up and down. Returning is the Chinese zodiac animals and the interactive lighted playground.

Tianyu Arts & Culture, Inc, Facebook

Live Entertainment

During your stroll along the trail you may encounter roaming entertainment. Last year there were Lion Dancers from Lotus Boyz GR. Renowned for their mastery of the ancient art of lion dancing, this talented troupe brought a burst of energy and cultural richness to the event.

Lotus Boyz GR, Facebook

The Grand Rapids Lantern Festival at John Ball Zoo promises to be a brilliant celebration of light, culture, and community. The event is perfect for people of all ages.

Do you issue refunds if the weather is bad?

Hey, it’s Michigan, there’s just weather, neither good or bad, simply dress for the occasion and be prepared for rain, shine, sleet, heat wave, etc. Give it a few minutes, it will probably change.

But, if you insist on not attending due to inclement weather you can email the event and ask them to change your tickets to a different date, see their website for more details.

Is there food?

Yes! There are several food options for purchase throughout the park during the festival because nobody likes a hangry visitor.

Ripped from the pages of 100 Things To Do in Cleveland Before You Die, I’m sharing 10 things to do in and around the city for lifelong residents and new visitors alike.

While the book is readily available on Amazon or a local bookshop near you I thought I’d give you a little peek at what you’ll find between the covers.

Not to brag, but I feel like this is really THE guide for finding the best food, festivals, museums, outdoor activities, music, and more.

While somethings may have changed the past few years, it’s still stands as a great guide to America’s North Coast.

Add these fun suggestions to your list of not to miss activities and attractions in Cleveland.

10 Unique Things To Do In Cleveland

Enjoy Lake View Cemetery—Cleveland’s Outdoor Museum

Lake View Cemetery has been compared to an outdoor museum, and for good reason. The elaborate grave markers, monuments, and chapels located on the grounds provide some of the most stunning funerary architecture in Ohio.

Highlights of the cemetery include the impressive James A. Garfield Memorial, which is the final resting place of the twentieth president of the United States; Wade Memorial Chapel, whose interior was designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany of New York; and the eerie Haserot angel, which looks as though it has black tears streaming down its face.

Catch the Buzz on Buzzard Day

As proof that Clevelanders will celebrate anything, I give you Buzzard Day in Hinckley. The day starts with a scrumptious all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, followed by a different kind of arts and craft show filled with the interesting and unusual.

After browsing, head out on the city streets for some good old- fashioned games. A guest buzzard makes a special appearance at the park during the spotting event.

Experience Wizbang! A Circus Like No Other

Locals Danielle and Jason Tilk have taken their oddball sense of humor, placed it on steroids, and created a memorable, one-of-a-kind, knee-slapping fun circus like no other.

Dubbed the Wizbang!, the circus, which started out performing for small audiences, has now grown to include bigger theaters.

Wizbang! is a pop-up theater that entertains guests with outrageous antics, circus acts, dance, music, cabaret, and nonstop fun.

The one thing to expect during a Wizbang! show is the unexpected. From one act to the next, you never know what will happen, but you know you’ll have fun finding out.

(c)Kurentovanje Festival

Meet Fuzzy, Giant Monsters at the Cleveland Kurentovanje

Kurentovanje (koo-rahn-toh-VAHN-yay), a Slovenian-style Mardi Gras, is held each winter in the Slovenian neighborhood. During the one-day festival, the streets fill with vendors, activities, food, and music.

The highlight of the festival is the parade, which features the release of Kurent, a seven-foot-tall abominable snowman–looking creature wearing bells, feathers, and streamers, whose job it is to chase away winter and usher in spring.

Seriously, does life get any better than attending a festival that celebrates a Yeti adjunct creature? I think not!

Prepare to Get Messy with the Polish Boy

What’s a Polish Boy? Well, it’s unlike anything else—a marriage of kielbasa, French fries, coleslaw, and Barbeque sauce.

This messy creation is available around town, and a few joints even offer their own unique rendition of the Polish Boy.

Head over to Hot Sauce Williams to try their verison topped with their special sauce. Best known for their appearance on Man v. Food in which the Polish Girl (like the Polish Boy but add a helping of pulled pork on top) was featured.

Of course, there are many other locations throughout the area that serve out their own version of the Polish Boy. Tip–Be sure to grab lots of napkins, it’s going to get messy.

Cheer On Your Favorite Caterpillar at the Woollybear Festival

In the science world, the woollybear is a fuzzy little caterpillar. In the Vermilion, Ohio, world, it’s a reason to throw a really big festival.

The Woollybear Festival, which happens every fall, is one of the largest one-day festivals in the entire state.

The huge parade is the star, well besides the Woollybear, of course, of this festival and lasts almost two hours and includes pets, marching bands, radio and TV personalities, vintage cars, floats, a royal court, and so much more.

Unique to this festival is the opportunity to cheer on your favorite woollybear in the Woollybear 500 Race.

Delve into the World of Rock and Roll

Step Inside The World’s Largest Geode

How to View the Stars Tonight

Located on the campus of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, the Shafran Planetarium and Mueller Observatory take stargazing to a whole new level.

The state-of-the-art planetarium introduces guests to the wonders of the night sky around us and takes visitors on a virtual journey beyond our own small universe.

As a bonus, during the evening hours, guests can use the building’s roof to help find the North Star.

Soar Through Women’s Aviation History

Tucked away inside the terminal of Burke Lakefront Airport is a little-known museum that honors women who have soared to new heights in the realm of aeronautics.

The International Women’s Air & Space Museum sheds light on the important role women have played in the history of aviation—some of it out of this world!—from the accomplishments of such well-known women as Amelia Earhart and Sally Ride to the lesser-known endeavors of women who hail from Northeast Ohio.

It won’t take long to go through the exhibits that share memorabilia and artifacts, but the inspiration you’ll find will stick with you for a lifetime.

In the quaint town of Frankenmuth, Michigan, about 90 minutes north of Detroit, is the World’s Largest Christmas Store, Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland.

This enchanting Christmas destination isn’t merely a shopping destination, it’s a festive pilgrimage that promises to spark your holiday spirit.

I’ve been visiting Bronner’s since I was a young girl and it never fails to impress. Stepping through the doors is like passing into Narnia, it’s a whole other world, one filled with wonder and all things Christmas.

All The Christmas Decor At Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland

The moment you step through the doors of Bronner’s, it’s as if you’ve entered a Christmas utopia.

The sheer size of the store is staggering, spanning the equivalent of one and a half football fields.

The overall size of this Bronner utopia is 320,000 sq. ft. Yes, that is correct the Bronner’s store is 320,000 square feet of all things Christmas.

Visit The Silent Night Memorial Chapel

A exact replica of the Silent Night Memorial Chapel located in Salzburg, Austria. That chapel had been built on the site of the St. Nicholas Church where “Silent Night,” the most well-known Christmas carol, was first sung in 1818.

When Wally Bronner, founder of Bronner’s, visited in 1976 he became enthralled with the chapel and worked to receive permission to duplicate the chapel.

Bronner’s replica of the chapel was completed in November 1992.

It is open daily during store hours for visitation and meditation.
