As far as I’m concerned one of the best ways to learn about an area is by taking a walking food tour. Seriously, you get to enjoy the outdoors, eat great bites (and not feel guilty because, hello, you’re walking), and learn some history and fun facts about the destination.
When I was visiting the Mississippi Gulf Coast I had the very good luck to take a Tasty Tour of Ocean Springs.
Here’s where to stay when visiting the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Ocean Spring, MS Tasty Tour
My Tasty Tour started at the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce where Main Street Tourism shared about their destination while we dined on biscuits by Greenhouse on Porter.
Now, I’ve done a fair amount of travel in the south and probably eaten more southern biscuits than I should have (the proof shows on my hips) and I can honestly say this was one of the best biscuits I’ve ever eaten. Anywhere. Mercy, so very good.
It was at that moment I knew I would never be able to live in Ocean Springs because I would eat biscuits every single day and that probably wouldn’t be a good thing. (kidding, not kidding)
After our delightful biscuits, it was time to start the walking portion of the tour and make our way to six more stops. Now, you might be thinking that six stops aren’t very many.
I’m here to tell you that by the time you arrive at stop six you’ll be grateful you’re done and, most likely, will be skipping dinner that night.
Ocean Springs is a very walkable community making this 3-hour walking tour easy for anyone to complete. Plus, it’s a completely charming town that you’ll want to explore even more after your tour ends.
Our Tasty Tour Stops Included:
- The Tato Nut Donut Shop for donuts
- Charred for Oysters Joachim
