Packing for a tropical vacation isn’t that different from preparing for any other kind of leisurely trip. Remember to bring clothes suitable for hot weather, and plenty of protection from the sun. It’s also important to keep your essential items well-organized and your documents close at hand. Follow these tips to ensure you have everything you need for your tropical vacation.

Documents and Travel Papers

Consult the visa requirements for the country you are visiting to find out exactly what documents you are required to bring. Keep your passport and other identifying documents in a safe place where you can easily reach them at all times. Also consider packing a photocopy of your passport or drivers license in a separate bag in case the original goes missing during your trip.

Clothing to Bring

Lightweight clothing like shorts, tee-shirts and tank tops are appropriate for tropical weather conditions throughout the year. Consider packing a light jacket for cool nights, and a nice dress or blazer in case you decide to go somewhere upscale. Also consider packing a hat or swimsuit cover to protect yourself from the sun. Ever Pretty US has a great selection of tropical wear.

Packing a Carry On

Put essential items in your carry on luggage. On the off chance that your checked bags are delayed, you may have to live out of your carry on for a day or two. Pack toiletries, a change of clothes, and something to keep you occupied like a book or computer tablet.

Saving Space in Your Luggage

Free up space in your luggage by tightly rolling clothes instead of folding them. If you have bulkier items like a jacket or large shoes, consider wearing them to the airport so you don’t have to find room in your luggage. Finally, leave toiletries like shampoo and soap at home, since hotels generally supply these items.

Above all, try to pack light and leave room in your luggage to bring home souvenirs or gifts for friends and family.
