I loved my visit to Hot Springs, AR. This is such a unique town packed full of history {think gangsters} and, of course, hot springs. While we were there we filled a five-gallon container and a few one-gallon containers with spring water to take home. I was very sad when our Hot Springs water was gone. Sitting in the healing waters at the spa wasn’t a hardship either. I’m thinking it’s probably a good thing I don’t live nearby, I’d spend all my time and money at Quapaw Baths.
The drive through the Hot Springs National Park to the top of the mountains has the best views. Perfect for sunrise and sunset. It’s a little twisty and curvy to the top, but once you are there it is completely worth it. There are a number of turn offs along the way that I highly recommend using.
The view from our room at the Austin Hotel wasn’t too shabby either. The Austin is located an easy stroll to the historic district and with views like this why would you stay anywhere else?
A visit to the Gangster Museum is a walk through the towns colorful past. Learn how gangsters, bootlegging, gambling and girls of the night used to rule the town. I loved learning about Capone, Madden, Bonnie & Clyde and a number of others spent their time in this town.
Don’t pass up the opportunity to stroll through the historic district and the Grand Promenade to enjoy the beautiful landscaping.
Love finding water features around town. There are fountains, waterfalls and spring water faucets strategically placed. It was fun stumbling across new features.
One of my favorite highlights from our visit was going to Garvan Woodland Gardens. I fell a little in love with their fairy gardens, found bigfoot and stood in awe of the Anthony Chapel.
The chapel is a architectural masterpiece with a 55′ peak and a design that makes it feel like the building is one with nature.
Just one of the many historical buildings you’ll see in Hot Springs along Bathhouse Row.
