One week down, one week to go in Rhode Island. It’s always crazy busy when I’m out here. The family came with me this year, along with my parents. We stay with my sister in her small 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home (yes, you read that right…7 people and 1 bathroom)…things are cozy. I haven’t lost my mind yet, but throw 7 different personalities into a small house and things tend to be interesting. The kids and Alan are constantly looking at me to arrange their entertainment. I have to keep reminding them that I’m here WORKING and not on vacation.
Rhode Island is beautiful and quaint, but filled with the worst drivers on the planet. Seriously, I’ve driven in NYC, Chicago, LA, Houston and NOTHING compares to drives here (o.k. one exception is drivers in Beijing, China). We have dubbed the major problem as the “Rhode Island Left”. Apparently when you need to make a left out of a parking lot or from a side street you just make the turn. Does. Not. Matter. if there is oncoming traffic. You just pull out and figure everyone will stop. It boggles the mind. Needless to say you have to drive on high alert the entire time. Now when I’m waiting to make a left the kids just tell me to make a Rhode Island Left. (((sigh))) You’d think driving rules are the same across the U.S., but apparently some states have unique traits 🙂 Does your state have any “unique” unwritten driving rules.
Eh, enough about me….here’s some photos.
Don’t love, love this photo, but the clouds were pretty cool with the freighter. I’ll have to open this photo in photoshop and play with it a bit.
Chateau Sur Mer in Newport—just lovely
Kingscote in Newport. Btw, if you ever have the chance to tour the Historic Newport Mansions..do it. Awesome houses! My favorite is Rose Cliff.
Cool trees…you can walk under the branches and its a bit like Alice in Wonderland under there.
I see Hydrangeas are all over, they are beautiful.
More soon, I hope. I have a few more photos to download that I took yesterday. I haven’t really done much except work. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get out and about a bit more this week.
