This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Groupâ„¢ and Home Depot & Rubbermaid, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #AllAccessOrganizers http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.
Our craft room has been completely out of control for the last few months. It was to the point that I just kept the door shut and never went in there. It was getting hard to find items let alone create anything. I knew that I had to do something to make the room more useable so I finally spent a few hours organizing the craft room.
It took a while, but the end result was well worth it. It will never be Martha Steward beautiful, but it’s finally a space that I can walk into, know where the items I need are located and create. Although, if Martha Stewart and her team ever want to stop by and beautify it for me I wouldn’t be opposed 😉 (note: must paint blindingly pink walls asap)
Craft Room Organization Tips
1. Containers, boxes, and baskets. This one is key. Having a place to put all supplies is a must. I found Rubbermaid All Access Organizers at Home Depot that work like a charm. The absolutely BEST thing about them is that they can be opened from the top or the front. Yes, from the front. It is so much easier. No longer do I have to move totes to get to the one I need. I just open from the front and grab my supplies.
Plus, I can see what is in the tote at a glance. No more writing contents on the totes I can see what is inside without ever having to open it up. Compete genius on Rubbermaid’s part if you ask me. Plus, the totes stack really well which is important for my small room.
2. Organize by type. I used my Rubbermaid All Access Organizers to put like items together. All fabric went into one tote, tulle and partially finished projects into another and paint and supplies into another.
3. Sort. As you are cleaning the room sort the items. I ended up donating a huge bag of miscellaneous items and tossed another bag of just junk that was hanging around the craft room. It was amazing the items that were gathering in there.
Using the three tips above I had my craft room organized and ready to use in a couple of hours. Using the Rubbermaid All Access totes made things a lot easier. The totes are available in two different sizes. I used the larger ones for fabric and the smaller one on top of the table. Now I can start crafting and creating without having to dig through piles of supplies.
