My Thoughts:
This was an intersting story about learning to forgive yourself. It is the story of a woman who has lived her entire life with guilt from a traumatic childhood event. I found the story touching, however, at points of the story I was just annoyed. The main characters father has passed away, she finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her, her dog dies, her cheating boyfriend is under scrunity for unethical behavior at his job, and there’s a hurricane. Seriously??? I mean, come on. The father’s death and the cheating boyfriend…ok…I’ll buy into that, but than adding in the death of her dog and then just toss in a hurricane and you’ve lost me. Thankfully, the last few items didn’t occur until towards the end of the book. It’s definately not a book I’ll recommend, but this was Ms. Callahan-Henry’s first book so I would definately read another story by her to see how her writting has evloved. Her new book Driftwood Summer looks interesting. You can learn more about Ms. Callahan Henry here.

My Rating: 3/5 (didn’t love it; didn’t hate it)
