Some of the best getaways are those spent with our girlfriends. Time away to relax, chat and spoil ourselves is a treat that we deserve every once in a while. Spending a weekend in Marble Falls, Texas with girlfriends is a memory just waiting to be made.

Marble Falls is located about 45 minutes outside of Austin and within an easy drive to San Antonio which makes it very easy to access. The landscape is gorgeous, the weather can’t be beat, and there is so much to see and do you’ll want to stay longer than a weekend.

 

THINGS TO DO

Saucy’s Cooking Class:  Learn how to make something new and wow your friends back home. Cooking can be fun when you are hanging out with your girlfriends.

Shopping: There are a number of quaint shops in downtown Marble Falls just waiting for your to enter their doors. Antiques, clothes, home decor, candy and more awaits you. I could have spent a number of hours just browsing the shops.

Wine Trails: Marble Falls is a great jumping point to taste your way through wine region. There are more than 37 wineries scattered among Hill Country and Marble Falls is right in the midst of it making it a perfect location to start a fun filled day. We had the opportunity to visit Flat Creek Estate which was fabulous. There is a beautiful tasting room where you can indulge in a variety of their wonderful wines. If you have time, be sure to take a wine tour to learn more about Flat Creek.

Art Classes: Both Art Frog Academy or Highland Art Guild offer a variety of art classes. It’s fun trying out new skills. On a recent getaway I attempted watercolor painting  and, surprisingly, wasn’t too bad. It’s something I would have never tried on my own, but because I was with friends and we were all new it made it a lot more fun. Classes are available for painting, sculpture, ceramic, fiber arts and so much more!

Art Galleries: You will definitely want to add a stop to the Daniel Adams Fine Art Gallery to your itinerary. The gallery is located in Buchanan Dam, but is completely worth the drive. Beautiful wildlife art awaits you by world renown artist Daniel Adams. I brought home a nice selection of note cards that will be framed to create a collage on my wall. Art prints of all sizes are available. If you’re in luck Mr. Adams will be at the gallery and you’ll have a chance to chat with him. He has had such an interesting past. Be sure to ask him about his work for Disney. Other galleries are located throughout the area and there is also a variety of sculptures along Main Street in Marble Falls.

Massage/Facials: One thing I love is to pamper myself with an nice massage or facial when I escape for a weekend. There is something very relaxing and I always leave feeling so much better. Brenda Morris Restorative Care offers a nice selection of options and has a very cozy and intimate feel. Walking in the door you instantly relax. I love that about spas. Sana Vida Wellness Spa offers a completely line of spa and yoga services. They also offer a very unique tea bar!

Mani/Pedis: Be sure to take advantage of a good mani and pedi during your girlfriend escape. Marble Falls offers a number of great places. Two places that were recommended to me were Angel Nails or the Nail Gallery.

FOOD & DESSERT

No girlfriend getaway is complete without great food. You’ll find some fabulous places in Marble Falls. My favorites include:

Fornos on Main: Delicious Italian food with generous portions. Save room for dessert and plan on sharing it. It’s all so very good.

Flat Creek Estate: Enjoy a nice wine tasting and then head over to the restaurant for an incredible meal.

Russo’s: On top of a cliff overlooking the lake. The view and food are both amazing.

Main Street Cafe: A quaint little coffee shop downtown Marble Falls that has a great breakfast and lunch selection. Be sure to order one of their mini pies.

Blue Bonnet Cafe: THE place for pie, be sure to go during Pie Happy Hour. Served 3-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

WHERE TO STAY

La Quinta: Located in the heart of Marble Falls with spectacular views and comfy beds the La Quinta is the newest addition to hotels in the area.  A full hot breakfast is included with you stay to help start your morning right.

Canyon of the Eagles Resort: Just outside of town with lots of hiking trails and outdoor activities. Canyon of the Eagles is the perfect place to get back to nature during your Girlfriend getaway. Comfy cottage type rooms, an outdoor pool, stargazing at the  observatory, making s’mores around the campfire,  birdwatching and more await you at Canyon of the Eagles. There is also an amazing restaurant on site that will delight your taste buds!
