Nestled in a quiet area of Fort Wayne is the educational and fun Children’s Zoo. The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is small enough to enjoy in a day, but still large enough to provide a nice array of animal exhibits. As the name implies the Children’s Zoo has been created to connect children to animals with the goal to inspire children to care for the world around them.

Besides the traditional zoo animals the Children’s Zoo has an African Village, Australian Adventure, and Indonesian Rain Forest. No need to grab a passport and purchase expensive airfare. A visit to the zoo and you can learn about animals from around the world without having to pack.

During our visit we enjoyed feeding the giraffes and watching the lions at play. We also saw monkeys, zebras, and leopards, oh my. It was so much fun!

In addition to the traditional zoo animal exhibits the Children’s Zoo has three great rides that are only $2 per person per ride.

Sky Safari-Get a birds eye view from 38′ above the ground as you soar above the African Village

Miniature Train-A shiny red engine pulls four passenger cars past the Indiana Family Farm, through a tunnel, and along the shore of Shoaff Lake.

River Ride-Climb aboard a canoe and explore the Australian Outback. Enjoy your float past dingos and kangaroos.

The zoo provides a variety of special events through out the year. Summer safari day camps, Earth Day celebration, birthday parties at the zoo, holiday events (including a Halloween bash that sounds like a lot of fun), and a Zoo-Loo-Au to name a few.

Plus, on select dates throughout the year you can spend the night at the zoo!! How fun.

During the season Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is open Monday-Sunday from 9a.m.-5p.m.* and charges $13.50/adult and $8.50/child for admission*

*hours and rates subject to change, please confirm with the Zoo prior to visiting.
